Caring for a loved one can be one of the most rewarding experiences, but it can also be incredibly demanding and stressful. My Personal Experience

For me personally, I was not prepared when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease over ten years ago. In the moment I heard about her diagnosis, I already had an idea of what was coming but yet the words froze. “Alzheimer’s Disease.” “Dementia.” “Losing your mind.” I experienced a deep worry about what was to come for her and for our family. And I saw how it bothered her to know that she would inevitably transition from a fiercely independent woman to being totally dependant on others.

Life was not fair. She should have been able to enjoy her golden years after working so hard her entire life. I knew that she had a wonderful family and that we would get through it together but I so wished that things were different. That she would be able to remember her grandchildren and that they would be able to continue to hang out with her in the same way they so enjoyed. I would do what I could to support her and my family but realistically I lived 400km away and I had a lot of commitments at home. Deep down, I knew that I was strong and resilient but ‘doing more’ was eventually going to crack me (or those around me). Something needed to shift so that I could not only contribute what was needed but also, so that I could enjoy time together with my parents.

Moving Forward

Around this time, I had met a cousin, Willem Lammers, who had recently discovered Logosynthesis®. Given everything going on in my life, I was curious to explore. I started using the Logosynthesis® Basic Procedure on my own and I noticed some subtle shifts. I felt calmer and more focused. And I was more compassionate to my Mom’s situation.

Energy shifts are subtle and yet they can be profound. In the moments after my Mom passed two years ago, appeared from her living room window. I continue to see rainbows from her living room when I visit my Dad, who struggles with Parkinson’s Disease. It has not been an easy journey for me or my family. Our Own Journey

We each have our own journey. I recognize that my contribution to the caregiving role was nowhere near what my sisters and their families contributed. What I experienced is different from my siblings and from my friends who care for their elderly parents. However I am now more compassionate to myself and to others in their personal journey.   6. Shifting the Energy in the Diagnosis: For me and my Mom, there was a lot of energy frozen in the words “Alzheimer’s” and “Dementia”. Pay attention to thoughts, emotions and physical sensations related to the words of the diagnosis.
