How does Logosynthesis compare to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy CBT

How does Logosynthesis compare to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)?

Dr. Willem Lammers, a psychologist, psychotherapist and trainer based in Switzerland, discovered Logosynthesis in 2005. Since then, he has been training an international group of psychologists, psychotherapists, coaches and other healthcare professionals in this model. To better understand the results of working with this model, we conducted a survey of this group. They told us that Logosynthesis is a preferred treatment method. Respondents indicated they were using Logosynthesis to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, burnout and other presenting issues.

The benefits were cited as:

  • overall effectiveness
  • speed of work
  • ease of use
  • client comfort
  • targets the presented issue.

Given that Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is currently recognized as the preferred treatment modality for many of mental health-related conditions, we asked professionals trained in both models about their preferences. We asked which method they preferred when working with clients. We also asked for comments to understand why they preferred either method. The responses reinforce the information gathered in the previous survey. However, they go deeper in understanding similarities and differences between Logosynthesis and CBT. Logosynthesis approaches the work from an energetic / spiritual level. Respondents indicate that this allows for faster, deeper and more permanent processing of distress. It also provides clients with greater autonomy. Respondents also cited that Logosynthesis is easier to use and clients are able to learn the technique for self-coaching.

A sample of what respondents said:

Logosynthesis since it is much faster, more sustainable and easier to use.

CBT is only moderately effective in the medium and long term. Logosynthesis results are permanent. It is much faster, you don’t have to evoke the whole difficult situation nor to relive it, an indication of it will suffice. It is easy, the client can learn to self-coach and become autonomous. All is much harder with CBT.

Building the evidence for Logosynthesis:

The survey was designed to be directional in nature to collect valuable insights from a pioneering group of psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, social workers, coaches and others who are interested in innovative approaches to health and wellness, from healing trauma to unlocking potential. Although there are variations in professions and levels of training, there are consistent observations about working with the method. Logosynthesis offers a beautiful, compassionate philosophy and it is supported with the application of the simple, yet powerful technique. Certification, quality and development are supported by the Logosynthesis International Association, based in Switzerland.

Governments are committed to providing healthcare based on evidence-based research and it takes time and resources to adopt innovative, new approaches to health and wellness. Training, research and awareness are critical factors to support adoption. Our goal is to share this work as an additional wellness tool to support your health and productivity.
